Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

Similar to the upper lid, a lower lid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure during which a surgeon can remove skin and/or excess fat. However, unlike the upper lid Dr. Wolpoe can perform the procedure inside the lash line if fat is primarily the problem or he can add Morpheus8 and/or Facetite® radiofrequency skin tightening to address mild laxity. However, if there is significant excess skin this is usually removed along with fat using an external incision similar to that of the upper lid. However, because gravity affects the lower lid to a more significant degree skin removal must be done very conservatively.

The procedure typically takes about 60-90 minutes, can be done under local or general anesthesia, and is associated with little pain. The incidence of complications is uncommon. Downtime is in the 7-10 day range.
