Eyelid Ptosis Repair
Ptosis is a medical term referring to a structure sagging below its normal anatomic location. When this affects the upper eyelid this structure will droop and often lay over the pupil obstructing vision. While there are many causes for this, the most common is a stretching and a pulling away of the main elevating muscle from the eyelid ligament that spans the lashline, known as levator desiscence or senile ptosis. This is fixed by tightening the muscle to its natural ligament thereby raising the lid. Other causes of ptosis will require a different approach as there are often other anatomic issues involved. Regardless of the cause Dr. Wolpoe has the expertise to correctly diagnose and treat these issues and he is happy to work with your eyecare professional to come up with the best treatment plan for you.
